Agribusiness (Agroindustrial Proyects)
Since the NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) was signed with the United States and Canada, Agribusiness has become one of the most successful sectors in Mexico.
Mexico exports agrofood products (primary and transformed) to 152 countries, and during the 2001-2011 period, exportation has grown to a superior yearly rate of 9%. During 2011, exports rose above US $18 billion dollars; a 24% raise in comparison to 2010. Imports also have played a fundamental role within the integration of productive chains. As a result, today Mexico is the world's main exporter of products like avocado, papaya, mango, raspberry, chile, berries and organic coffee, among others.
